- Material: Manufactured with an 85 Shore A Durometer proprietary elastomeric material.
- Compatibility: Approved for use with systems where shims interact with Polyisobutylene (PIB) and compatible with all glazing sealants.
- Construction: Available in 1/16″, 1/8″, or 3/16″ thickness, with options for adhesive backed or plain (non-adhesive).
- Sealant Compatibility: SmartBlox™ 2.0 is developed specifically for the Window and Door industry to ensure compatibility with various glazing sealants and systems utilizing PIB.
- Application: Adhesive-backed blocks are typically applied to the sash before setting the Insulated Glass Unit (IGU), while non-adhesive blocks are wedged between the IGU and sash after glass placement. Clean, dry surfaces are essential for optimal adhesion, with firm application pressure enhancing bonding strength over time.
- Appearance: SmartBlox™ 2.0 material is supplied in black, precut to size, with or without high-performance, pressure-sensitive adhesive.
- Benefits: Unlike rigid setting blocks, SmartBlox™ 2.0 offers flexible cushioning for IGUs, supporting dead load and safeguarding against impacts and stress cracks. Its flexibility accommodates thermal expansion and contraction, while promoting drainage and protecting IG seals from water ingress in the glazing pocket.
